Ekphrasis strikes again!

I love to write poetry in response to art. This poem was inspired by a painting by Jules Bastien-Lepage, of Joan of Arc having a vision. It hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

My friend Karl says it’s his favorite painting in the European gallery. He guided me to it many years ago.
